We here at Uncommon Party Co. obviously love a good party and getting together with family and friends. Although we may not be able to be physically together, fortunately for us, we live in a time where we are more connected than ever thanks to technology! So instead of your usual party, try these fun activities to stay connected to loved ones from the comfort of your couch.
If you usually go to happy hour or have Friday girl's nights or brunch - these don't have to stop. Apps like Facebook Messenger and Facetime allow you to video call multiple people at once so you can connect with all your besties at the same time. So grab your glass of wine, put on some lipstick and socialize from home - bonus points for not having to worry about getting a cab at the end of the night (shout out to our Vancity followers)!
You might not be able to go to the movies but you most likely have Netflix, so rally your friends and have a Netflix party! You'll need to download an extension so that you can all watch the movie at the same time without worrying about anyone being behind. And just in case you're one of those people who loves to talk during movies, there's a side bar chat so you can still give your commentary.
If you're a fan of board games and want to let the good times roll, don't let self-isolation stop you. There are plenty of game apps you can download on your phone (or online) from scrabble to chess to simulated reality so that you can still play against your friends and family. Going out may not be safe, but a little virtual competition never hurt anybody.
Virtual Book Club
Need to give your eyes a break from all the screens you've been staring at? Start a book club and and meet virtually once a week to discuss the latest book. We recommend something of the romance or fantasy variety to counter the day-to-day negativity you might be feeling. Amazon is still delivering so take advantage while you can!
If you miss your SO and aren't able to see each other, the romance doesn't have to die. Set up a romantic dinner over your preferred video chat platform. Both of you make your favourite dish, get dolled up, play some music, light some candles and enjoy each other's company!
Staying active can be difficult while staying home. There's plenty of online workouts for yoga, body-weight workouts, etc. but it's way more fun doing it with a friend. Find a partner, choose your workout and create a weekly challenge so that you can support and push each other to stay healthy during this weird time.
We hope these help you all stay safe, sane and healthy! XO
